There is no legislation for warnings of traces of allergenic material that at some point in the food supply chain may cross-contaminate and form an inclusion in the product what otherwise is considered in the legislation context as a non-allergenic food product.
There is an innate degree of uncertainty with regard to the actual risk of allergenic cross-contamination and lack of information on the threshold levels above which allergenic reactions in sensitive individuals are triggered.

'MAY CONTAIN' LABELS ARE VOLUNTARY

Voluntary Precautionary Labels are often undertaken by the food industry to warn of the potential for cross-contamination (and cross-contact) such as in the instance of shared manufacturing equipment and/or facilities.

Consumers assume that a product does not contain an allergen if an allergy advice box is absent from the labelling.

BIG ALLERGY LIE #1

"If it doesn't list an allergy, it's safe."  NOPE.

If you read a label on a product and you don't see CONTAINS: WHEAT, PEANUTS ETC. You think that means it is safe.

HERE'S WHY IT'S NOT:
Manufacturers are not LEGALLY required to list allergens that are NOT an ingredient.

It's completely voluntary!

Imagine you order a protein powder, and nowhere on the label does it state any known allergens.

But that protein powder comes in many flavors - chocolate peanut-butter, vanilla, caramel, etc.

Now imagine - those flavors come from a supplier that also makes peanut butter, almond and other nut-based flavorings.

GUESS WHAT?
NONE of those flavor ingredients are NUT-FREE.

They all are made on the same SHARED processing equipment as nuts - but the manufacturer doesn't legally have to tell you this.

This is called CROSS-CONTACT or CROSS-CONTAMINATION.

  • Peanut flavour protein was just made on the same equipment
  • Ingredients from a different supplier are used that are processed on the same equipment as allergens
  • Allergens are in other products that are stored, shared and used in the same areas.
  • Product is is actually made by a third-party Co-Packer or Contract Manufacturerthat makes many products for other brands.

When it comes to size and specifications you should not only look at all of your own needs but if you are sub letting then there maybe other requirements. This decision should be looked at before purchase, maybe make a list of what you need and what is needed.

What was this high-tech gift, you ask? Why, it was a tape recorder! It was a monographic, reel to reel tape deck that came with it’s own plug-in microphone. I could hold that mic up to my transistor radio’s speaker and record songs onto tape. I could also play the guitar and sing and record every second of it. I could even hide and record conversations from unsuspecting family members. I was in recording heaven!

I had the opportunity to walk about 30 minutes to the outskirts of town past the airport one day. I climbed up a hilltop with a satellite dish facility overlooking an expansive valley. There was nobody else around and it was incredible how silent the area was. It was like a vacuum where I could hear only my own breathing. It was a very peaceful and even spiritual moment.

What’s now?

Let’s get it before it’s too late, dude
