Sea Salt
Sea Salt is made from evaporated sea water. Unlike highly refined table salt, sea salt is a natural source of important minerals such as magnesium, calcium and potassium which are vital for muscle, brain and heart health. Table salt is processed to give it its fine texture, which strips it of its important minerals and also contains additives to prevent clumping.
Some benefits of sea salt:
- Sodium is essential for regulating fluid balance in the body and reducing inflammation, which is important for healthy blood pressure levels and cardiovascular health. A lack of sodium can lead to dehydration and muscle cramps, especially after strenuous activity.
- Aids in digestion and the absorption and transportation of minerals in the intestines.
- Our adrenal glands release hormones that regulate sodium and potassium in the body. In order to do this, they require a balance of these important minerals. The main sign of adrenal insufficiency is salt cravings.
