3 Quick and Easy Chaffle Recipes

The newest low carb recipe sensation

Chaffles seem to be the most popular thing since sliced bread! Ha-ha! Such a simple recipe, made with just egg and cheese, cooked in a waffle iron.

I’m always looking for easy recipes to make sticking to a low carb/keto way of eating easier, so I decided to give these a shot!

Chaffles can be used as bread, mini pizzas, waffles, the possibilities are endless! I wanted to try to Nutracelle-ify the basic chaffles recipe to give them an extra filling protein boost and add some healthy fiber.

To be honest, I was expecting a total fail- a disastrous mess! I could almost picture it; burnt cheese and stuck-on egg in my waffle maker...uugh. Still skeptical, but so curious I decided to see what all the fuss was about!

I held my breath, said a little prayer and added the batter, set the timer and cringed at the thought of the clean up! The timer went off and I anxiously opened the lid and peeked inside.

The outcome?

I was so surprised!

I couldn't believe these actually came together perfectly! But the real question was, how did they taste? I was anticipating a scrambled egg type taste and texture. Wow, was I wrong! These were mildly flavoured, crispy and so filling!I added an egg and some ham to my finished chaffle for a perfect, easy, insanely filling breakfast!

The experimenting continues!

I had also been seeing recipes for sweet chaffles all over the internet. Again, my curiosity got the best of me and I decided to attempt cinnamon flavoured chaffles. Made of cinnamon and cheese, I really wasn't sure about this but decided to be brave and try making these despite the unusual combination. So glad I did!

These were amazing with some sugar free syrup. Even teenager approved!

Another idea!

Deciding to keep the winning chaffle streak going, I tried pizza chaffles next. Talk about week of the chaffle! For these, I went with cheddar in the batter and some Italian spices for more of a savory taste. So easy! I added some favorite toppings and heated in the oven until cheese melted. I brought some to work the next day for an easy lunch. Sorry guys for not bringing enough to share, Ha-ha!

Here are the combinations that I used for Nutralean Chaffles;

Plain Chaffle:

2 eggs

1 cup grated mozzarella

1 cup Natural Nutralean

Vanilla Cinnamon Chaffles:

2 eggs

1 cup grated mozzarella

1 scoop Vanilla Nutralean

½ tsp cinnamon

1 gram packet of sweetener (I used stevia)

Topped with sugar free syrup

Pizza Chaffle:

2 eggs

1 cup grated cheddar

1 scoop Natural Nutralean

Your favorite Italian spices

Directions:

1. With a fork, mix cheese and Nutralean (and any seasonings you may use) together to coat the cheese before adding the eggs.

2. Add egg

3. Mix until combined.

4. Add to hot waffle maker. Cook until crispy and browned. (Mine took 6 minutes)

Thats it! You're done!

  • A few tips for making chaffles:
  • Spray waffle maker with non stick spray to prevent sticking.
  • Let stand for 2 minutes after cooking, the chaffles will get crispier as they cool.
  • No peeking, let the waffle maker do it's thing. Opening the waffle maker too soon will cause the chaffle to pull apart.
  • Recipe makes standard sized 2 waffles.
  • Be sure to let waffle maker preheat fully to prevent sticking.

I will definitely be trying more chaffle combinations in the very near future! I’m thinking Nutralean Chocolate Dream Brownie chaffles will be my next experiment!
